Firstly, we would like to welcome you all to the kindergarten, friends who have returned and new friends who have joined our community. We feel that the children and our lovely new teachers are settling in well and things are progressing nicely. We look forward to a busy and exciting journey throughout the year.
We have been celebrating Michaelmas with the children in kindy through stories, songs and baking. Friday last was Michaelmas day and as you know we celebrated it along with the harvest festival in kindy. We are very grateful for your kind donations of vegetables, bread and jam to symbolise the harvest. We hope you enjoyed the soup as much as we did and you got your share of the lovely dragon bread that Caecilie and the little ones kindly baked for us in honour of St. Michael defeating the dragon and saving the crops of the land!
(The children can tell you all about it!)
Parent and toddler group
Our parent and child group continues to run on Tuesday afternoons in kindy at two thirty. It is facilitated by Katharina Barry or Sarah Murphy. We ask that a donation of at least six euro is given by each family attending and refreshments will be provided.
The AGM will take place on the 24TH of October at 7:30 pm and we would appreciate your support.
School will be closed for Mid-term break on Mon the 30th of October and will re-open Monday the 6th of November. Children are invited to dress up on the last day but please keep it natural and not scary.
We will be hosting a Halloween workshop in kindy on Saturday the 28th of October. It will focus on arts, crafts movement and play. We will be making some festive pumpkin soup along with some spooky crafts. All children are welcome and the cost is twenty-five euro per child, however discounts for siblings will apply. The workshop will start at ten and finish at two. To reserve a place, us know as soon as possible.
The lantern festival
The lantern festival will take place on Friday the tenth of November where all our little ones will guide us on a walk to the farm with their lanterns. We will meet at 18.30! Please bring along something to share and be sure to bring your singing voice.
Helen, Trish and Katharina are hoping to begin their introductory year of Anthroposophy (Waldorf training in October. We wish them all well.
The cost of such is weighing heavily on the kindergarten funds so if anybody wishes to give a donation to support the expense of these courses it would be warmly appreciated.
Again we wish to remind parents to adhere to the school start and finish times as much as possible. Staff are in earlier so that they can get everything set up for the day and settle comfortably into their role. If a parent needs to get to work, please talk to Sarah about it!
If anybody doesn’t have a school calendar, please ask staff and we would be happy to give you one.
Please try to have fees paid at the start of every month.
As our ethos suggests there is no such thing as bad weather so we intend to be outside for some time every day, therefore we ask that all children have warm outdoor clothes, hats, scarves and gloves. Please remember to label each item.
As you are aware the reception area is quite busy so please help us to keep it as uncluttered as possible by not leaving unnecessary items in kindy and if your child is not attending five days please take bags home.
Caecilie is currently studying for her fetac level six and will be joining us on Thursdays and Fridays until the new year. We look forward to showing her our ways.
Christina will also join us as a volunteer on Friday mornings.
Please call or send a text in the morning if your little one is not able to attend.
Lots of love,
Sarah, Helen, Trish and Catherine x
